Senior Trial Counsel

Dean A. Mazzone was appointed to the Sentencing Commission as the Attorney General’s representative in 2014.  He is an Assistant Attorney General, currently serving as Senior Trial Counsel in the Criminal Bureau.  Mazzone has been a member of the Superior Court Best Practices in Criminal Sentencing committee which developed best practice standards and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the Massachusetts Law Review. Prior to his appointment as an Assistant Attorney General, Mazzone was an Assistant District Attorney in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.  He is a 1993 graduate of Brandeis University and 1998 graduate of Suffolk University School of Law.
