Water Filtration and Water Dispensing Systems
BOARD POLICY
WATER FILTRATION DISPENSING SYSTEMS
(enacted 09-30-2010)
At a regularly scheduled meeting on September 30, 2010 the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters voted to no longer require product acceptance listing for the following:
1. In-line refrigeration water filters
2. Faucet mounted water filters
3. Point-of-Entry water filters
4. Water Softeners
5. Reverse Osmosis systems
6. Similar type filtration products
A Water dispenser with a water connection and no drainage connection shall comply with all appurtenant sections of 248 CMR 10.00 regarding:
a. Water Connection
b. Plumbing Permit
c. Inspection
d. Materials
The Board has jurisdiction over inlet/outlet connections and all associated piping from the water source to the final fixture connection. All equipment must be installed by a properly licensed Massachusetts Plumber.
