Water filtration dispensing systems
(enacted 09-30-2010)
At a regularly scheduled meeting on September 30, 2010 the Board of State Examiners of Plumbers and Gas Fitters voted to no longer require product acceptance listing for the following:
- In-line refrigeration water filters
- Faucet mounted water filters
- Point-of-Entry water filters
- Water Softeners
- Reverse Osmosis systems
- Similar type filtration products
A Water dispenser with a water connection and no drainage connection shall comply with all appurtenant sections of 248 CMR 10.00 regarding:
- Water Connection
- Plumbing Permit
- Inspection
- Materials
The Board has jurisdiction over inlet/outlet connections and all associated piping from the water source to the final fixture connection. All equipment must be installed by a properly licensed Massachusetts Plumber.
