Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, Marlborough - $499,720, Programming & Web Development: The school will use the grant to provide high school students and adult learners with a robust set of entry-level skills necessary for multiple IT and business specialties.
Attleboro High School, Attleboro - $150,000 Robotics & Automation Technology, HVAC: Attleboro High School will use the grant to better serve their student populations in their Robotics & Automation Technology and HVAC programs.
Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT), Boston - $267,529, Construction Management and Building Trades: Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology (BFIT) will purchase equipment to grow its Construction Management and Building Trades program. The school will create an innovative and collaborative learning environment focused on training students in green/renewal energy to meet emerging workforce needs.
Berkshire Innovation Center, Inc., Pittsfield - $225,000, Advanced Manufacturing: The Berkshire Innovation Center, Inc. will purchase advanced manufacturing tools that will be used by industry and educational partners in the Berkshires. The Center will offer training opportunities for students, as well as employees of BIC member companies, enhancing the pipeline of skilled workers in the region.
Blackstone Valley Vocational Regional High School, Upton - $150,000, Health Care and Dental Care: The school will use purchase new industry-grade equipment to advance its goals of increasing diversity among the student population and enhancing training for entry-level positions in health care and dental care.
B.M.C. Durfee, Fall River - $476,000, Large Machine Operation Certification Project: The school plans to purchase technology that will allow large machine operation trainees to have hands-on experiences with equipment in a safe environment. The cutting-edge technology will give students a competitive edge for construction jobs.
Bourne High School, Bourne - $75,000, Innovation Pathway Program in Business: The school will create a business suite to support real-world authentic learning opportunities such as designing and executing advertising and marketing campaigns.
Bristol Community College - $344,135 Offshore Wind Energy: Bristol Community College’s National Offshore Wind Institute (NOWI) has a primary focus on workforce development initiatives that are demonstrably relevant to career pathways, accelerate development of the U.S. offshore wind industry, and provide comprehensive and responsive workforce skill development and training initiatives. Funding will support GWO Blade Repair training.
Bristol County Agricultural High School, Dighton - $464,762, Veterinary Science: The school will upgrade equipment to meet increasing student demand in veterinary science. The school will create a space where students can actively participate in hands-on learning in a real world setting to gain competency in animal nursing, laboratory procedures, radiography, and pre- and post-operative procedures.
Bristol County Sheriff’s Office, North Dartmouth - $497,475, Project ACT: The Bristol County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) will use the grant to fund PROJECT ACT (Access to Correctional Training), a workforce development program that teaches incarcerated individuals’ skills in manufacturing. The program is designed to increase economic sustainability and growth for inmates who are incarcerated in Bristol County facilities and provide the skills necessary to enter the local textile manufacturing industry, which includes a variety of jobs from machine operators to custom cutters and quality control.
Burke High School, Dorchester - $75,000, Innovation Pathway Program Environmental and Life Sciences: Burke High School will launch its first Innovation Pathway program in Environmental and Life Sciences with a focus on biotechnology. Burke’s biotech program will combine rigorous coursework, technical training, career development activities, and work-based learning opportunities to effectively prepare students for high-paying, in-demand careers in the life sciences.
Cape Cod Community College, West Barnstable - $491,408, Certified Dental Assistant: The college will enhance its dental hygiene program to qualify as a certified dental assistant program. These enhancements will ensure that students graduating from the program are ready to provide quality care for the region's patients.
Cape Cod Regional Technical High School, Harwich - $226,000, Automotive Technology: Cape Cod Regional Technical High School will enhance its automotive technology program to prepare students for jobs manufacturing, maintaining, and repairing electric vehicles.
Center for Manufacturing Technology, Woburn - $177,596, Advanced Manufacturing: The Center for Manufacturing Technology will repair and purchase new equipment in the advanced manufacturing program to help train apprentices and incumbent workers. The school will also invest in its CNC Milling program to meet area employers’ expectations.
Central Massachusetts Center for Business & Enterprise, Blackstone Valley Education Hub, Andover - $150,000, Electronics: The Blackstone Valley Education Hub will expand its curriculum and physical space to include an electronics lab. Curriculum will include Introduction to Electronics, Advanced Electronics, Microcontrollers, and Electronics Manufacturing. The program will target local electronics manufacturers who wish to expand their training programs.
Dighton Rehoboth Regional High School, North Dighton - $105,300, Automotive Technology: Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School will update equipment in its Automotive Technology program. The updates will allow the school to launch an adult training program offered in the evenings and during the summer.
Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fall River - $155,000, Automotive Technology: The school will enhance technology in the automotive technology program to train high school students and underemployed adult learners in Bristol County. The program aims to help fill a shortage of skilled automotive technicians.
El Centro Catholic Charitable Bureau of the Archdiocese of Boston, Inc., Boston - $200,480, Information Technology: Catholic Charities will purchase equipment that will allow it to expand the El Centro IT Program. El Centro offers comprehensive career training and placement programs to develop and accelerate the career advancement of adult immigrant learners facing significant barriers in search of viable career pathways and self-sufficiency.
Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School District, Danvers - $242,000 Electrical and Culinary Arts & Hospitality: The high school will improve and expand career and technical education opportunities to students on the North Shore and Cape Ann in the electrical and culinary arts/hospitality programs. These programs will be expanded to provide space and equipment for additional day students, after-dark program high school students, and adults in the evening NightHawks adult education program.
Framingham State University’s McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Research, Framingham - $498,431, Environmental Science & Technology and Biotechnology: Framingham State University (FSU) plans to redesign the Christa McAuliffe Center for Integrated Science Learning, originally created in 1994, to host the Challenger Learning Center (CLC). Through this project, FSU and the McAuliffe Center will deepen their programmatic collaboration to provide learning opportunities to the K-16 students and to increase enrollment of FSU students. The expanded programs will reach new students during after school hours, evenings, weekends, and summer.
Franklin County Technical School District, Turners Falls - $500,000, Welding and Culinary Arts & Hospitality: Franklin County House of Corrections is partnering with Franklin County Technical School (FCTS) to implement welding simulation training & certification program using a welding mobile simulation lab. FCTS will use mobile simulation for instruction with industry partners and middle and high school students, as well as evening programs in welding in the Welding Career Technical Institute.
Frontier Regional School, South Deerfield - $150,000, Innovation Pathways in Advanced Manufacturing and Healthcare and Social Assistance: The school will expand programming in advanced manufacturing and healthcare and social assistance industries. Students will receive training through specifically designed coursework at the school and practical application through internship opportunities at local manufacturing and healthcare settings in the community.
Gateway Regional High School, Huntington - $374,471, Welding: The school will update all welding equipment in the shop so students enrolled in the vocational program and adults in night classes can train using up-to-date tools to ensure appropriate industry standards are met.
Greater Lawrence Technical School, Lawrence - $490,070, Automotive Technology and Environmental Sciences: The high school will expand its automotive technology program and to create an environmental science program. The school will prepare students for high-growth careers that will contribute to reaching state and national decarbonization goals that address the climate crisis.
Greenfield Community College, Greenfield - $414,760, Welding: The college will design and purchase mobile virtual reality/simulation training equipment for welding certifications to meet manufacturing employer needs in the Pioneer Valley Region.
Hampden County Sheriff’s Department, Ludlow - $272,869, Arboriculture, Environmental Conservation and Landscape Sustainability: The Hampden County Sheriff’s Department (HCSD) will create an arboriculture program for horticulture industries. HCSD will train inmates at its pre-release center. HCSD will also upgrade and expand its current arboriculture conservation training program.
Hopedale Junior and Senior High School, Hopedale - $75,000, Environmental and Life Science Innovation Pathway: The school will use the grant to support its new Innovative Pathways program, where students will have access to state-of-the-art materials and curriculum to prepare them to work in the biomedical field.
Jewish Vocational Service, Boston - $1,286,348, Patient Care and Central Sterile Processing: JVS, in partnership with Quincy College, will launch a healthcare and life sciences career institute at the site of the former Boston Center for Adult Education. The institute will position JVS to better serve unemployed and under- employed adults, with a focus on immigrants, English Language learners, and BIPOC populations. Graduates will be prepared to earn credentials for employment.
Keefe Regional Technical School, Framingham - $472,250, Heating and Cooling: The school will increase both its day and evening students’ knowledge of gas heat, oil burner technologies, rooftop heating and cooling units, ductless high-efficiency heat pumps, and high-efficiency refrigeration and air conditioning that aligns with “Massachusetts Saves” equipment being installed in residences across the Commonwealth.
Lower Pioneer Valley Career and Technical Education Center, West Springfield - $110,000, Advanced Manufacturing: The Lower Pioneer Valley Career & Technical Education Center (CTEC) will enhance its vocational school in West Springfield that serves approximately 460 students from nine school districts. The Pioneer Valley has a thriving manufacturing base, and the Regional Employment Board of Hampden County (REB) has identified an unmet demand among employers for workers in technology-enabled precision manufacturing. CTEC opened a certified advanced manufacturing shop six years ago, which has provided training to both high school students and unemployed/underemployed adults, in partnership with the REB.
Madison Park Technical Vocational High School, Roxbury - $224,642, Health Assisting and Medical Assisting: Madison Park Technical Vocational High School (MP), the only career technical high school in Boston, will upgrade equipment in the health and medical assisting programs. The school will enhance the skills training of its students through the purchase of equipment that meets industry standards to ensure students are prepared to join the health care sector.
Massachusetts College of Art and Design, Boston - $200,000, Maker Space Lab: The Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) will outfit the college with much-needed industry- and career-specific technology and equipment to better prepare students for careers after graduation.
Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts, North Adams - $250,000, Environmental Science and Technology: MCLA will purchase GIS technology to give students experience to prepare them careers in environmental science and technology.
Massasoit Community College, Brockton - $379,323, Allied Health: Massasoit Community College will purchase training equipment for two regional priority allied health programs: radiologic technology and dental assisting. The equipment will support stackable credentials for entry and advancement in healthcare careers and improve the skills for students in the programs. Equipment will respond to employer-partner needs and re-accreditation findings and improve capacity in response to COVID-19 restrictions.
Massachusetts Maritime Academy, Buzzards Bay - $500,000, Renewable Energy and Advanced Manufacturing: Mass Maritime will enhance the Advanced Manufacturing and Design Makerspace that supports the Energy Systems Engineering (ESEN) program. The new makerspace lab will support the Academy’s workforce development initiatives for underemployed adult learners and create pathways for the Academy’s K-12 programs aimed to inspire women and students of color to pursue STEM fields, and vocational and apprentice pathway programs.
Maynard Public Schools, Maynard - $196,150, Radio and Television Broadcasting: The high school will enhance its student-run station, which also acts as the Public Access (PEG Access) cable television station for the community of Maynard. WAVM provides students a CVTE certificate in radio and television broadcasting. WAVM enables students to develop skills as computer and information analysts, software developers & programmers and computer support specialists.
McCann Technical School, North Adams - $194,000, Advanced Manufacturing: The school will purchase technologies to support creating a CNC milling training program featuring a world-class skills-based curriculum that develops a stackable set of skills and knowledge including safety, terminology, setup procedures, programming, and file manipulation. The school will also integrate robotic part loading and unloading in seamless and simultaneous processes.
Middlesex Community College, Bedford - $500,000, Biotechnology: MCC will expand its highly successful Biotechnology Technician (BIT) certificate and associates degree in science programs that provide education and hands-on training necessary for entry-level technicians in the biotechnology industry, specifically bio-manufacturing.
Minuteman Regional Vocational Technical School District, Lexington - $354,000 Metal Fabrication & Joining Technologies: The school will train students for high-demand occupations in metal fabrication and joining technologies, as well as and animal science/vet assisting. The school will expand and deepen curriculum, add industry-recognized credentials, increase secondary enrollment in existing programs and offer post-secondary opportunities for adults enrolled in the Minuteman Technical Institute (MTI).
Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fitchburg - $399,546, HVAC and Property Maintenance: The school will purchase new equipment to enhance the high-quality vocational training it provides to high school students, as well as non-traditional students through the School of Continuing Education. The school is responding to an increased demand for professionals to fill career HVAC & property maintenance.
Mount Wachusett Community College, Gardner - $500,000 , Nursing: Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) will purchase simulation equipment to expand and upgrade two of its Simulated Health Science labs (SIM Labs) and accompanying control and debriefing rooms for its nursing programs (certified nursing assistant to licensed practical nursing pathway, associate degree in nursing, practical nursing certificate) and its paramedic technology certificate’s proposed military medic to paramedic bridge pathway. By updating the equipment, MWCC students will have improved access to industry standard equipment providing students a stronger educational foundation before entering the workforce by using modern patient care simulation experiences.
Nashoba Valley Technical High School, Westford - $500,000, Cosmetology: The school will replace outdated equipment in the cosmetology program, which first opened in 2004. The upgrades will allow the high school to train students and address the employment gap brought on by COVID-19 in this important service industry.
North High School, Worcester - $237,021, Allied Health: North High School will address the growing need in EMS by expanding to include a pathway towards EMT certification. The high school will purchase an ambulance simulator, emergency room life support equipment, bed packages, and other items to provide students with real-life experiences and hands-on practice to solidify their skills required for certification.
Northern Essex Community College, Worcester - $226,005, Patient Care Technician, Medical Assisting: Northern Essex Community College (NECC) will expand and enhance the training capacity for many of its rapidly growing health care programs, (patient care technician, medical assisting, respiratory therapy, registered nursing, practical nursing, paramedic, emergency medical technician, healthcare technician, certified nursing assistant) in the high-demand fields of healthcare and social assistance.
Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School, Rochester - $500,000, Metal Fabrication and Joining Technology: Old Colony Regional Vocational Technical High School will fund the immediate growth and training needs of its metal fabrication and joining technology (MFJT) program. Multi-process welders, a hydraulic plate shear, and the reconfiguration of the MFJT shop will accommodate new welding booths to significantly improve working environments, enhance the quality and complexity of student skill development, and afford students the ability to earn additional industry credentials.
Pathfinder Regional Vocational Technical High School, Palmer - $188,000, Hospitality: The school will purchase new equipment to enhance opportunities for students working toward careers in foodservice and hospitality. Students will prepare for successful careers in the food service industry such as culinary arts, hospitality management and nutrition.
Peabody Public Schools, Peabody - $270,699, Social Services: The school will create simulation labs in both criminal justice/protective services (CJ) and early childhood education (ECE). Simulation-based training equipment will provide students with skills and knowledge in a safe environment, and enable students to acquire skills, confidence, and experience by realistically engaging in their career area. The equipment will include baby infant simulators, 911 simulators, and career employability training programs.
Quabbin Regional School District, Barre - $72,234, Manufacturing: The school will expand course offerings to create an after-dark program option for students and for local community members to earn industry credentials. The school will purchase Dremel 3D printers, Vex robotics, incubators, thermal cycler, electrophoresis and a visualization system.
Quincy College, Quincy - $145,551, Healthcare: The college will upgrade equipment in the flexible acute care laboratory with portable commodes, hospital beds, manikins, nursing assistant kits, storage cabinets, and wheelchairs. Quincy College will offer certification in home health aide and nursing assistant programs, providing direct instruction for 80 hours, including CPR training, access to its skills lab, college advising and tutoring.
Quincy Public Schools, Quincy - $268,000 Healthcare: The high school will purchase equipment for its health care technology program, including multi- position beds, Geri complete skills manikins, hydraulic multi-treatment stretchers, glucometers, AES digital curriculum system, phlebotomy simulators, patient lifts, blood pressure packages, and universal AED trainers.
Quinsigamond Community College, Worcester - $499,815, Healthcare: The college will update equipment in three nursing labs at its downtown Worcester campus, which is home to the QCC School of Healthcare. The three labs – the nurse education lab, simulation lab, and practical nursing lab – are used exclusively for students in the ADN and PN programs to prepare them for nursing careers. Students will learn to use new high-fidelity manikins, vital sign simulation manikins, torsos with audible lung and heart sounds, as well as support important skill demonstrations such as G-tubes and tracheotomies.
READS Collaborative, Middleborough - $408,312, Healthcare: The collaborative will purchase virtual reality/augmented reality equipment to help students with disabilities earn credentials that lead to professions in the health services industry, including certified nursing assistants.
Salem High School, Salem - $263,585, Media & Green Technologies: The high school will purchase equipment to provide specialized training for careers in offshore wind projects, green technologies, and energy efficiency. The school will also enhance its graphics communication program to prepare students for careers in graphic design and the technical services sector.
Shawsheen Valley Technical School, Billerica - $336,650, Transportation: The school will replace an inoperable spray booth in the auto collision repair and refinishing program with a more efficient industry-standard paint spray booth. The new spray booth will increase efficiency, expand capacity, and meet current environmental and safety regulations. Both high school students and adults in the evening program will be trained to receive industry-recognized credentials.
Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, Northampton - $484,580, Hospitality: The school will upgrade equipment in the culinary arts program, including a rotating oven, POS system, livestream cameras, hands-free sinks, as well as a food truck and an outside dining area.
South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School, Hanover - $500,000, Manufacturing & Trades: The high school will purchase new milling machines, lathes, boilers, tankless water heaters and home efficiency auditors and multi-zone building energy equipment. The equipment will improve students’ skills for careers in advanced manufacturing, electronics, engineering, robotics, heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration.
Southeastern Regional School District, South Easton - $499,837, Transportation: The school will purchase diesel technology and an Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) calibration equipment to increase capacity in the automotive technology and automotive collision and repair programs. The equipment will be used to convert an existing building into a diesel technology center.
Springfield Technical Community College, Springfield - $262,730, Trades: The college will upgrade equipment in the HVAC program so students learn to work with energy-efficient equipment and home automation systems commonly used in the industry.
St. Mary's Center for Women and Children, Dorchester - $54,270, Information Technology: The center will purchase computers and technology equipment to support classroom instruction and study spaces for the Women@Work workforce development program. Students will have the ability to earn an industry credential in administration or computer information technology through classes at Bunker Hill Community College to be prepared for careers as help desk specialists, office administration, and medical office administration.
Tantasqua Regional Vocational High School, Fiskdale - $68,273, Information Technology: The high school will improve the information technology program by upgrading workstations to promote an environment where students are better able to build complex networks, integrate IoT device, python code and network automation. Students will learn how to identify and mitigate LAN security threats.
University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, Dartmouth - $500,000 Industrial Robotics and Cybersecurity: The funding will create an Intelligent Industrial Robotics and Cybersecurity Testbed to support students to gain career relevant technical experience. Equipment will also be used to expose K-12 students involved in relevant STEM programs, at Bristol Community College, and at Our Sisters’ School a non-sectarian middle school, which serves economically disadvantaged girls from New Bedford.
University of Massachusetts Lowell, Lowell - $499,965, Manufacturing: The grant will create the Massachusetts Electronics Manufacturing Evolution (MEME) Lab at UMASS Lowell. The MEME Lab is a complementary capability for the Advanced Manufacturing Simulation & Training Center, which supports academic and regional workforce training programs. The MEME Lab will provide students/trainees with electronic device manufacturing knowledge, capability, and capacity, reducing our dependence on out-of-state and offshore fabricators.
Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School, Bourne- $499,998, Transportation: The grant will be used to upgrade the automotive technology training program. The equipment to be purchased includes state-of-the art lifts, an alignment machine, an automatic driver assisted analysis and repair system, individual tool sets, materials to level the floor under the new lift and to refinish the floor to meet modern safety guidelines, and a state-of-the-art floor scrubber.
Uxbridge High School, Uxbridge - $149,592, Manufacturing: The grant will support the Innovation Pathway program in manufacturing. The training leads to MACWIC certification in the engineering and manufacturing sector, as well as a variety of soft skill credentials. The training complements partnerships being maintained through the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce and MassHire Worcester, specifically in targeting needs for MACWIC, Adobe, and Fusion certification, as well as coursework aligned with higher education partners.
Wachusett Regional High School, Holden - $75,000, Manufacturing: The grant funds will support the Innovation Pathways program in manufacturing for the following industries: manufacturing, metal fabrication, general construction, engineering design, and electrical engineering. Equipment will be purchased to support the engineering technology program at the high school, including CNC-based machinery, metal fabrication and joining equipment, wood fabrication and joining equipment, fabric/vinyl fabrication and joining equipment, and 3D printing equipment.
Webster Public Schools, Webster - $146,415, Healthcare & Manufacturing: The grant will help launch two Innovation Pathways programs - Healthcare and Social Assistance and Advanced Manufacturing - to bring together the Bartlett High School students’ interest with the skills they need to work in high-need industries. All students in grades 9 -12 will be able to access technical courses in these fields. Equipment ranges from beakers and measurement tools to technical equipment such as CNC Mills, laser cutters, 3D printing, and microscopes necessary to run the activities designed in the curriculum.
Westfield State University, Westfield - $500,000, Healthcare: The grant will expand capacity for nursing and health science students. The award will double the patient simulation space to enhance student applied learning to support healthcare student application to practice.
Woburn Memorial High School, Woburn - $150,000, Manufacturing & Environmental and Life Science: The grant will support Advanced Manufacturing and Biotechnology Innovation Pathways. Students will complete their Pathway with an industry-relevant capstone project supported by an industry mentor. The AM pathway includes Project Lead The Way (PLTW) Engineering Essentials, Introduction to Engineering Design, computer science, AutoCAD, Drafting, and Technology. The biotech pathway we will purchase a CO2 incubator, two Level II hoods, and an ultra-cold freezer (-80C) equipment to support mammalian cell culturing and experimentation.
Worcester Public Schools, Worcester - $75,000, Innovation Pathways Information Technology: The information technology program is a uniquely designed program that allows students from the comprehensive high schools in Worcester to participate in career exploration and training at Worcester Technical High School on extended days. In this path, students learn aspects of networking, programming, website development and cybersecurity.
Worcester Technical High School, Worcester - $311,000, Automotive Technology: The grant will expand the automotive technology program. The program will provide instruction on repair passive restraints, multiple air bags, lane departures warning, and collision avoidance systems. The students will receive wrap-around support services as needed, including tutoring before and after-school. Industry partners will collaborate to ensure that the career pathways and related curricula integrate academics and workplace needs to address realistic, real-world scenarios.
Lab Modernization
Assabet Valley Regional Vocational Technical High School, Marlborough - $1,268,229
HVAC: The school will modernize and expand HVAC instructional lab space to triple enrollment at the school over the next three years. The grant will enable the purchase of equipment such as work benches, project tools, oil burners, furnaces, and heat pump training equipment. The improvements will support traditional high school students and expand the Career Technical Initiative (CTI) adult training programming.
Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical School, Taunton - $1,000,000
Culinary Arts: The school will use Skills Capital funds, along with funds from the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA) to construct a new school that will expand culinary arts instruction. More than 100 high school students and adult program students will be taught professional cooking techniques, bakery and pastry art fundamentals, food sanitation and safety, and hospitality skills. The school will host a school restaurant and hospitality functions for the local community.
Essex North Shore Agricultural and Technical School, Danvers - $1,725,000
Culinary Arts and Animal Sciences: The school will modernize and expand Culinary Arts and Animal Sciences instructional labs impacting more than 500 high school students and CTI adult students, through afternoon training programs for students from Beverly, Swampscott, Gloucester, and Marblehead.
Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fall River - $2,500,000
Advanced Manufacturing and Dental Assisting: The school will renovate its Advanced Manufacturing and Dental Assisting instructional lab space, impacting 175 school students, as well as launch adult CTI training programs. The lab space will also feature equipment such as dental chairs, sterilization equipment, and imaging X-ray equipment for students to get hands-on experience.
Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational Technical High School, New Bedford - $1,800,000
Culinary Arts and HVAC: The school will modernize and expand Culinary Arts and HVAC instructional labs, supporting 280 high students. The school will also expand CTI adult training programming.

Carpentry and Information Support Services and Networking: The school will modernize carpentry as well as the Information Support Services and Networking (ISSN) instructional labs to support 140 additional high school students, which will double enrollment in the Information Technology and Security Networking programs. The school will also launch a new CTI adult training program.
Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, Fitchburg - $1,887,127
Electrical and Carpentry: The school will repurpose and remodel space to create expanded Electrical and Carpentry instructional lab capacity, partnering with Fitchburg Public Schools, Gardner Public Schools, and Narragansett Regional School District to develop a new afternoon program projected to serve 800 high school students as well as expand the schools’ evening CTI adult training program.
Nashoba Valley Technical High School, Westford - $2,500,000
Electrical and Veterinary Science: The school will modernize and expand instructional lab space in the Electrical and Veterinary Science programs to increase enrollment by 50 percent, creating the capability to support 180 high school students and expand the school’s CTI adult training programs. Equipment will include new renewable energy training equipment, including solar panel installation, Li-Ion battery storage Unit, Hydrogen Fuel Cell battery storage unit and wind turbines.
Salem High School, Salem - $1,034,398
Culinary Arts and Medical Assistance: The school will modernize the Culinary Arts and Medical Assisting instructional labs to double student enrollment. The Culinary Arts equipment to be purchased includes advanced technology multi-use ovens with remote monitoring and cooking controls, high-efficiency ranges, ovens, fryers, steamers, dishwashers, and serving systems. Funding for Medical Assisting equipment includes innovative simulation and virtual learning technology.
Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, Northampton - $2,121,200
Horticulture and Animal Science: The school will modernize and expand space for Horticulture and Animal Science instructional labs to expand student enrollment by 25 percent. The funding will support 120 additional students during the day programs and provide new capabilities for future CTI adult training programming. Students will receive simulator training on construction machines such as excavators, graders, dump trucks, and cranes.
South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High School, Hanover - $2,500,000
Carpentry and Culinary Arts: The school will modernize and expand square footage for Carpentry and Culinary Arts instructional lab space to increase enrollment by 45 percent. The funding will impact 197 students as well as the school’s CTI adult training programs.
Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical School, Bourne - $2,496,500
Environmental Science and Technology: The school will modernize and update the infrastructure of Environmental Science and Technology instructional labs supporting 100 high school and adult training program students, with new laboratory equipment such as microscopes, HAZMAT/oil spill simulators, and field equipment including sampling devices, field and marine access vehicles, cameras, and weather stations.
Westfield Technical Academy, Westfield - $1,014,665
Advanced Manufacturing and Electrical: The school will modernize and update infrastructure for Advanced Manufacturing and Electrical instructional labs supporting 110 high school students, with new equipment such as Proto TRAK Lathes and Mills, Haas Mini Mills, CAD Workstations, Fire Alarm, Burglar and Access Control Trainers. The school will also launch a CTI training program.
Worcester Technical High School, Worcester - $1,100,031
Automotive Technician: The school will renovate and modernize the Automotive Technician instructional lab supporting 145 high school students and provide new capabilities to expand the school’s CTI adult training programming. New equipment includes auto lifts, brake lathe machines, tire balancers, alignment machines, bench racks, paint booths, and hybrid auto system tools.
Chapter 74 Vocational Instructional Space Facility Expansion Grant
The following nine organizations received facility awards totaling $39 million:
Greater Lawrence Technical School, Andover - $4,000,000, Aviation Maintenance, Healthcare Assisting, Fiber Optics, and Robotics – The high school is planning a 7,900-square foot two-story addition to launch a new aviation maintenance technician program. The school will also enhance its existing healthcare assisting, robotics, and fiber optics programs by adding capacity to educate an additional 648 students over the next five years. The school’s industry partners include Straumann, Greater Lawrence Family Health Center, EDI Telecommunications, Air Bear Aviation, and Northern Essex Community College.
Bristol County Agricultural High School, Dighton - $2,500,000, Horticulture and Landscaping – The high school will invest to modernize Keith Hall, a 10,000 square-foot facility, as well as update equipment, including refrigeration systems, operator simulators, and forestry equipment. The school plans to increase enrollment by approximately 100 students next year. Industry partners include MA Farm Bureau, Taunton Area Chamber of Commerce, and the town of Dighton.
Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School, Fall River - $5,000,000, Automotive Collision, Culinary, and Metal Fabrication – The funding will support the lab expansions for the automotive collision, culinary, and metal fabrication programs. The new facilities will be used by traditional high school students during the day and support the Career Technical Initiative (CTI) adult training program. Industry partners include MassHire Bristol Workforce Board, TACO Comfort Solutions, Bristol Community College and the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth.
McCann Technical High School, North Adams - $ 3,110,000, HVAC – The high school will construct a 5,580 square-foot HVAC building to provide training to an estimated 100 students each year. Currently there is no HVAC technician training program in the county, and HVAC was identified by the Berkshire County Workforce blueprint as a critical workforce need. The new instructional labs will be used by traditional students as well as adult CTI students after hours. Industry partners include MassHire Berkshire Workforce Board, Berkshire Career Center, Laureyns United Contractors, and Adams Plumbing and Heating.
Smith Vocational and Agricultural High School, Northampton - $5,000,000, Agricultural Mechanics, Automotive Technician and Horticulture – The school will rebuild the horticultural building, which was heavily damaged during a fire in May 2022. The funding will also provide a full spectrum of welding, hydraulics, diesel and gas engine equipment for instruction. The school’s Agricultural, Mechanics, Automotive Technician and Horticultural programs work with MassDOT’s pre-apprenticeship program to help train students for careers with MassDOT. IUOE Local 98 is another key industry partner providing training and career advisement to students.
Southeastern Regional School District, South Easton- $4,000,000, Electricity, Electronics/Mechatronics, Precision Machining, Robotics and Automation Technology – The school is planning a 6,800 square-foot expansion to support electricity, electronics, advanced manufacturing, and robotics programs. The school expects to serve additional students during the day as well as expand its current CTI adult training program. Industry partners include MassHire Greater Brockton Workforce Board, AccuRounds, Machine Inc., and Integra Life Sciences.
Franklin County Technical School, Turners Falls - $ 4,158,500, Aviation Technician – The high school plans to build a 12,000 square-foot instructional lab to launch a new Aviation Maintenance Technician program that will educate approximately 100 traditional day students and adult students each year. The school will meet FAA criteria to become an approved AMT Airplane Maintenance Technician. Turners Falls Airport Commission is one of the primary partners along with Gulfstream Corporation. The program will also create alliances with the Bridgewater State Aviation Science program and the newly established UMass Aviation & Research Center.
Northeast Metropolitan Regional Vocational Technical School, Wakefield - $7,499,922, Biotechnology, Medical Assisting, Robotics and Culinary Arts -The high school is in midst of an expansion project that will serve 320 additional students, and launch new programs in Biotechnology Medical Assisting, Robotics, and Culinary Arts. Industry partners include North Shore Community College, Winchester Hospital, Whidden Memorial Hospital/Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA), Glen Ridge Nursing Center/Genesis Healthcare, Fantini Bakery, The Produce Connection, Boston Conveyor & Automation, SMC Corporation of America, Amazon Robotics, and Boston Dynamics.
Nashoba Valley Technical High School, Westford - $3,750,000, Advanced Manufacturing, Robotics, Programming-Web Development, and Engineering – The school will undertake an expansion and modernization project to add 8,750 square feet to the building to create a state-of-the-art manufacturing, robotics, and design training facility that will train more than 200 traditional day students and adults in the CTI program. Industry partners include Insulet Corporation, TÜV Rheinland, Keystone Precision, TRAK Machine Tools, RedHat, Middlesex 3 Coalition, Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce, Northeast Advanced Manufacturing Consortium (NAMC) and Central/North Central Region Advanced Manufacturing Consortium, Mt. Wachusett Community College, Middlesex Community College and three MassHire Workforce Boards.
