Information on all upcoming DoN hearings and opportunities for public comments

Notice of Public Hearing Concerning

CareGroup, Inc. (“CareGroup”), the parent of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Inc. (“BIDMC”), New England Baptist Hospital (“New England Baptist” or “NEBH”), and Mount Auburn Hospital (“Mount Auburn”); Lahey Health System, Inc. (“Lahey”); and Seacoast Regional Health Systems, Inc. (“SRHS”), the parent of Anna Jaques Hospital (each of the aforementioned a “Party” and together, the “Parties”)

Notice is hereby given that the Massachusetts Department of Public Health will conduct a hearing to permit comment on application for Determination of Need (“DoN”) filed on September 8, 2017 by the Parties: CareGroup, Inc., 109 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215; Lahey Health System, Inc., 41 Mall Road, Burlington, MA 01805; and Seacoast Regional Health Systems, Inc., 25 Highland Avenue, Newburyport, MA 01950, with respect to their intent to affiliate to create a new comprehensive and distributed healthcare delivery system in the Eastern Massachusetts marketplace. The Applicant intends to establish and incorporate a new parent organization, NewCo, which will function as the sole corporate member of the entities.

There will be two opportunities to attend the hearing: Tuesday, December 5, 2017, commencing at 5:00P.M. at Roxbury Community College in the Auditorium in the Media Arts Center, 1234 Columbus Avenue, Roxbury Crossing, Massachusetts and Wednesday, December 6, 2017 commencing at 5:00P.M. in the Gloucester High School Auditorium, 32 Leslie O Johnson Road, Gloucester, Massachusetts. Such hearings shall not be adjudicatory but shall be in the nature of a public forum for the presentation of any comments which may be relevant to consideration by the Department of the proposed project. Such hearings will be jointly conducted with the Division of Health Care Facility Licensure and Certification under MGL C111 s51G. Persons wishing to make their views known may appear at either of the scheduled hearings or may submit written comments to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, Determination of Need Program, 250 Washington Street, 6th floor, Boston, MA 02108. Written comments will be accepted up until 5:00P.M. on Monday, December 18, 2017.
