Find a Bottle & Can Redemption Center

Redemption center policies and hours vary and change frequently. MassDEP recommends that you call ahead before bringing your containers to one of these facilities.

You may return clean, empty containers to retailers that sell them, or to redemption centers. State law (the "Bottle Bill") requires retailers to redeem containers at full deposit value. It allows redemption centers to deduct processing fees from refunds.

To find redemption centers: Zoom in ( + ) on the map below and click on the icons near you for locations and phone numbers.

Register a New Redemption Center

If you wish to establish a redemption center, you must:

  • Notify MassDEP in advance and
  • Provide the agency with updated information twice a year.

You also need to notify consumers that it is against the law for them redeem containers purchased in other states for deposit refunds in Massachusetts.
