MassEnergyInsight (MEI) is an essential web-based tool to help communities track and reduce their energy use with access to reports on electricity, natural gas, and oil use.

DOER offers MassEnergyInsight (web-based tool) free to cities, towns, and regional governmental entities such as school districts or drinking water and wastewater districts. This web-based tool provides access to energy information for multiple uses: buildings, vehicles, streetlights & traffic lights, and drinking water & wastewater treatment and pumping.

Key Energy Management Tasks

MassEnergyInsight enables cities and towns to perform key energy management tasks:

  • Develop an energy use baseline
  • Examine energy use by departments and by fuel type
  • Forecast energy budgets
  • Show the results of energy efficiency investments
  • Develop a greenhouse gas emissions inventory
  • Facilitate communication and awareness about energy use
  • Generate reports for stakeholders.

If you are a city, town or regional entity, please review the letter template below to add and remove personnel and organizations. Once you have included the official letterhead and signed your MEI Authorization Letter, please email it to your regional coordinator.
