Physical Ability Test for Massachusetts Court Officers

Standard test that all prospective Court Officers of the Massachusetts Trial Court must pass

The PAT required of applicants consists of a series of job simulated tasks. They include a 30lbs weight lift and carry, a 100 meter straight line run, climbing and descending 14 flights of stairs, a 100 meter obstacle course, a 165lbs dummy drag, and a dexterity test. Applicants must complete the course in no more than 5 minutes and 31 seconds and are encouraged to do so as fast as possible.  Applicants must be cleared in advance by a medical care provider to take the PAT and are encouraged to prepare physically for the test as it is physically challenging. Additional information about the PAT will be sent to applicants when invited to take the test. A video depiction of the PAT can be viewed below.
