Western Massachusetts Fire Training Facility in Springfield

The purpose of this project was to create a State Regional Fire Training facility in Springfield to serve the Western part of the state and to alleviate the training load at the central training academy located in Stow, MA.

The project provides a training area with classrooms, offices, male and female lockers, staff and student turn out gear storage, facilities areas with a mini-crib room, maintenance shops, a fire house and storage areas, fire safety lab with offices and ground storage space, emergency equipment response storage and expanded parking.

Project Features

  • Existing 6.56 acres site located at 100 Grochmal St. in Springfield, MA and already serving as a fire training facility for the city of Springfield.
  • 3 main buildings on site: a burn building, a ladder tower and an administration guilding.
  • The burn and ladder tower buildings were unchanged. The administration building was expanded to meet DFS standards.
