Zero Energy Modular Affordable Housing Initiative

The Zero Energy Modular Affordable Housing Initiative (ZE-MAHI) is a grant program awarded in 2018 as part of the Affordable Access to Clean and Efficient Energy Initiative.

Vermont Energy Investment Corporation was awarded just under $1.05 million dollars to design and implement a program which will support the installation of ten affordable zero energy modular homes across the Commonwealth.

The goal of the grant program is to complete up to four of the units on privately owned land and the remaining 6 units in existing manufactured housing communities. These units will replace inefficient manufactured homes, providing healthier indoor air quality and stable housing/energy costs. Homeowners who choose to participate and are approved through the program will receive grant funding to reduce the cost of the zero energy modular home.
