The Commission dismissed the non-bypass equity appeal of a Westfield Fire Department Captain as his issues were either addressed or fell outside the purview of the Commission.
The Commission denied the appeal of a Taunton Fire Department (TFD) Lieutenant who claimed he was wrongly denied the opportunity to take the April 2025 Statewide Fire Captain Examination, concluding that the state’s Human Resources Division (HRD) correctly determined that he had failed to meet the filing deadline.
The Commission rescinded the two-tour suspension of duty and reprimands of two Boston fire lieutenants after finding that the actions they took in response to a drunken off-duty firefighter engaging in racist and obnoxious behavior were reasonable and consistent with Boston Fire Department guidelines.
