Two suspensions upheld. DOC had just cause to suspend the Appellant for failing to stay alert while assigned to eye-ball watch of a prisoner.

Discipline appeal dismissed for lack of jurisdiction based on Appellant's failure to go forward with a local appointing authority hearing prior to filing an appeal with the Commission.

The Appeals Court affirmed the Commission's decision to apply a mail-handling rule regarding an appeal received via mail with no postmark.

Firefighter disciplinary appeals allowed.

Discipline appeal denied. The Appellant misrepresented his age when he took a civil service examination for firefighter. The Town was justified to terminate his employment upon discovery of this misconduct. Parties given addition time to discuss an alternative resolution.

Discipline appeal denied. There was just cause to suspend the Appellant for 5 days for failure to show for a scheduled shift and failure to call and notify supervisor.

SJC affirmed Commission decision overturning termination of firefighter.

Superior Court affirmed Commission's decision to uphold the Town's termination of a police officer, including the Commission's determination that the a last chance agreement was not signed by the Appellant under duress.

Appeal of 2-day suspension denied. There was just cause to discipline the firefighter for his insubordination at the scene of a fire.

Discipline appeal dismissed. The Commission lacks jurisdiction over disciplinary matters in the State Police that have not gone before a Trial Board.
