In light of a recently-enacted law that exempted the position of Worcester Police Chief from civil service, the Commission closed its investigation related to the filling of that position on a permanent basis as it is now moot in terms of the civil service law and rules.
The Commission allowed a request by three Worcester Deputy Police Chiefs to investigate the City's failure to comply with civil service law and rules as it relates to filling a permanent vacancy for Worcester Police Chief.
