The Commission modified the discharge of a Pittsfield Highway Maintenance Craftsman for his inability to lift 50 pounds due to a back injury as well as his use of anti-anxiety medication while on duty. The Commission gave the City 60 days to conduct a comprehensive fitness for duty evaluation.
The Civil Service Commission denied the Appellant’s appeal to be reclassified from Program Coordinator II to Program Coordinator III as she failed to show that she performed the level distinguishing duties of the higher classification a majority of the time.
The Commission dismissed the appeal of a Clerk IV who was terminated from DCF as she never attained civil service permanency in any position, including Clerk IV, thus divesting the Commission of jurisdiction regarding this termination.
