Examination appeal dismissed. The Commission found that HRD was correct in deeming a Chicopee police officer ineligible to sit for a promotional examination as time spent in the Police Academy does not count as time actually served in a police force.
Superior Court affirmed Commission's decision which concluded that actual service as a police officer is required in order to be considered employed in the force regarding promotional examination eligibility.
The Commission dismissed a long-serving and distinguished Industrial Safety and Health Inspector II with the Department of Labor Standards' reclassification appeal given she did not perform the formal supervisory functions of that title or devote more than 50% of her time to its level distinguishing duties.
