Promotional bypass appeal denied. The Commission found that Westfield Police Commission was reasonably justified in bypassing a Westfield patrol officer due to his demonstrated poor judgement and lack of maturity in three recent incidents of off-duty alcohol abuse.
The Commission denied an examination appeal brought by a candidate who took the 2025 Boston Fire Department (BFD) Fire Lieutenant promotional examination as he failed to complete the required ECT&E on-line claim.
The Commission allowed the bypass appeal of a candidate for Boston Police Officer as the Boston Police Department misapplied its own “automatic disqualifier” guidelines related to driving histories and was unable to show a nexus between the candidate’s driving history and his ability to serve as a police officer.
