Order of Dismissal
Petitioner David McDonough appealed the denial by the State Board of Retirement (SBR) of his request for Group 4 classification. Mr. McDonough has been an employee of the Norfolk County Sheriff’s Office since 1996 or 1997 and has worked as a correctional officer (CO), CO/chef, CO SPEC/tool control, assistant steward, and steward/senior officer. In November 2025, Mr. McDonough applied for Group 4 classification. The SRB denied his request in December 2025, granted his request for reconsideration in January 2026, and then denied his request again. Mr. McDonough timely filed this appeal from the SBR’s decision. The SRB moved for summary decision in April 2026. Mr. McDonough has now rescinded his retirement application papers, including his application for group classification, and moved to dismiss this appeal.
I hereby withdraw Mr. McDonough’s appeal as it has become moot. 801 CMR 101(6)(g).
