NOTICE OF ADVISORY CODE COMMITTEE MEETING

In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 30A, Section 20, notice is hereby given of a meeting of the Board of Fire Prevention Regulations 527 CMR 12 Electrical Advisory Committee at the MECA Office, 610 Providence Highway, Dedham, Massachusetts at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2018 to review requests for consideration of adoption of TIA’s.

a) The committee to review and make recommendations to the BFPR regarding NFPA’s recently issued Technical Interim Amendments (TIA’s) and Massachusetts Amendments to the 2017 Edition of NFPA 70 National Electrical as provided below:

(1) 110.26(A)(4)

(2) 210.12 Exception, revise to include steel wireways and auxiliary gutters

(3) 210.62, clarify that the minimum number is one, even in a show window shorter than 6 ft.

(4) 220.12 Ex. No. 2, revise the units of measurement in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA 17-5.

(5) 336.10(9), revise in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA #1310, except replace "per" with "in accordance with" to agree with accepted usage.

(6) 406.4(D)(4) Ex. No. 2, correct reference to 210.12(D) This is also NFPA 70, TIA 17-6.

(7) 450.23(A), revise the conditions to revert to the technical requirements of the same coverage in the 2014 NEC, but that was garbled by NFPA software in this cycle so as to make it impossible to install these transformers.

(8) 500.5(A), 2nd paragraph, broaden the wording to include industrial uses of ammonia generally.

(9) 505.9(E)(2), revise in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA 17-14, Log #1338

(10) 551.71(F), add the following sentence: "Receptacles installed to comply with 551.71(B) or 551.71(C) shall not be required to have GFCI protection.

(11) 555.2, revise in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA log #1348 Part 1.

(12) 555.3, revise in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA log #1348 Part 2.

(13) 590.4(G), rewrite in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA 17-4.

(14) 625.17(B), revise in accordance with NFPA TIA #1296.

(15) 625.44(A), rewrite in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA 17-2, part 1.

(16) 625.54, insert this new section in accordance with NFPA 70, TIA 17-2, part

(18) 680.23(F)(1), revise in accordance with NFPA 70,
