DCR Parkways Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Municipal + Nonprofit Stakeholder Meeting 11/16/2023
Overview of DCR Parkways Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment Municipal + Nonprofit Stakeholder Meeting 11/16/2023
DCR would like to invite municipal and nonprofit stakeholders to join a virtual meeting to learn about the ongoing Parkways Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment (CCVA). The year-long CCVA aims to better understand our metro area parkways' vulnerability to climate change's effects, primarily flooding from increased precipitation, storm surge, and sea level rise. With nearly two hundred miles of roadway in the Greater Boston area, DCR parkways are critical links, enhancing mobility, enabling access to employment, and providing affordable recreation opportunities to residents and workers. This assessment will identify the DCR parkways vulnerable to climate-related flood risks based on flood exposure models that reflect current and future climate conditions and potential economic and mobility impacts. This meeting will inform municipal and non-profit stakeholders about the DCR’s CCVA processes and future planning efforts. In breakout rooms, stakeholders will have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about their local parkways in greater detail with the consultant team, Stantec.
