DCR manages state parks and oversees more than 450,000 acres throughout Massachusetts. It protects, promotes, and enhances the state’s natural, cultural, and recreational resources.
The health and happiness of people across Massachusetts depends on the accessibility and quality of our natural resources, recreational facilities, and great historic landscapes. DCR continues to improve the vital connection between people and the environment.
Since 2015, the annual DCR Summer Nights program has provided free, safe youth-based programs for thousands of at- risk teens and young adults in urban areas across the Commonwealth. The program demonstrates commitment to urban youth development, builds community, fosters activities that promote healthy lifestyles and promotes shared stewardship of our parks. This year, DCR is proud to partner with 74 experienced youth organizations offering a variety of recreational, educational and skill building activities.
