Overview   of Greenfield - Resurfacing and Related Work on Montague City Road

A Live Virtual Design Public Hearing will be hosted on the MassDOT website below to present the design for the proposed Greenfield – Resurfacing and Related Work on Montague City Road project in Greenfield, MA.

Purpose:

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with the opportunity to become fully acquainted with the proposed Greenfield – Resurfacing and Related Work on Montague City Road project. All views and comments submitted in response to the hearing will be reviewed and considered to the maximum extent possible.

Proposal:

The proposed project consists of resurfacing Montague City Road in Greenfield, starting from Cheapside Street approximately 340ft east of the intersection with Route 5 to approximately 375ft past the intersection of Mountain Road, for a total of about 1 mile. Also proposed is the construction or reconstruction of ADA compliant cement concrete pedestrian curb ramps and crossings; construction or reconstruction of cement concrete and hot mix asphalt sidewalks and driveways; removing and resetting of curb and transition curb as required; replacing existing guardrail as needed with new guardrail and end treatments; drainage alterations as needed including: replacing all frames and grates; and adjusting, cleaning and rebuilding drainage structures as needed. Proposed work also includes: resetting traffic signs; placing final pavement markings; repairing of roadway cuts required to perform work; and completing incidental items and as required by the Engineer. Bicycle accommodations consisting of a usable shoulder and 2ft buffers wherever possible have been provided in accordance with applicable design guides.

A secure right-of-way is necessary for this project. Acquisitions in fee and permanent or temporary easements may be required. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is responsible for acquiring all needed rights in private or public lands. MassDOT’s policy concerning land acquisitions will be presented in the meeting.
