Overview of Legends and Lore at Sawyer Bluff (Gate 8) 1/6/2024
Meet at Wachusett Reservoir Gate 8, Intersection of Cross Street and Route 70, Boylston. About 3 miles round trip.
Discover the geology and history as well as discuss legends and lore of the misfortunes that surrounded the area during construction of the reservoir.
Easy to moderate hike will be approximately 3 miles. Hike will be along forest roads and footpaths with some inclines to rewarding shoreline views of the water supply that provides clean drinking water to over three million people.Dress in layers with sturdy footwear, be prepared for windy conditions near the water. Bring water and trekking poles, traction devices, or snowshoes depending on trail conditions, and your sense of adventure!
Dogs are not allowed on water supply protection lands.
