Overview of Wachusett Watershed Guided Hike: Gate 8 2/11/2023
Meet at Wachusett Reservoir Gate 8, Intersection of Cross Street and Route 70, Boylston. About 3 miles round trip.
Get to know the trails of Sawyer Bluff! The guided winter hiking series will continue every Saturday in February meeting at Wachusett Reservoir's Gate 8. We will explore different trails and shoreline areas of the Narrows, Lord Cove, and Hastings Cove. Easy to moderate hike will be approximately 3 miles. Hikes will be along forest roads and footpaths with some inclines to rewarding shoreline views of the water supply that provides clean drinking water to over three million people. Dress for the weather, wear sturdy shoes, and bring water. Bring trekking poles, ice cleats, or snowshoes depending on trail condition.
Dogs are not allowed on water supply protection lands.
Hikes will be a slow pace and last about 2 hours. In the case of inclement weather, hike may be cancelled or modified. To check on hike status please call 774-261-1809 or email Kathryn.Parent@mass.gov.
