Please note:
- Although these trainings are free, our training staff is small. For best results, we ask that you make attendance mandatory for all staff when possible and ensure a minimum of 20 participants, either onsite or online.
- We do not offer lunchtime presentations due to accessibility needs of both presenters and participants with hearing loss.
- If one of your staff is Deaf or hard of hearing, and you are requiring their attendance, it is your responsibility to provide communication access for them.
Our trainings cover a variety of topics:
Deafness and Hearing Loss – An introductory training that explains key legal responsibilities, who is affected, common ways people communicate, reasonable accommodations, communication tips, and a short overview of assistive technology.
Communication Access in the Workplace – This session builds on the general training and focuses on creating a workplace that supports employees and customers who are Deaf or hard of hearing. It also explains what “reasonable accommodation” means and gives examples of how it can be provided.
Communication Access in Medical Settings – Designed for doctors’ offices, hospitals, home health programs, and medical facilities. This training covers location specific accommodations, communication needs, and helpful technology.
Communication Access in Emergencies – A program tailored for Police, Firefighters, EMS providers, and other first responders. It offers guidance on providing effective communication and response when Deaf or hard of hearing people are impacted by emergencies or major incidents.
Providing Communication Accessible Programs and Services – A training for state and public agencies focused on offering effective accommodations and improving communication access in programs and services.
Assistive Technology – A session highlighting devices and systems that improve communication access and environmental awareness for people who are Deaf or hard of hearing.
Accommodation Assessment – In busy or complex spaces, communication can be challenging. While we don’t perform audio testing or sell or install listening equipment, we can help you plan practical ways to make these environments more communication friendly.
