Kindness counts in DCR parks

More people than ever are visiting our State Park System, and it’s easy to see why. These special places invite us to enjoy nature, connect with others, and contribute to our health and well-being.

We all have a place in our parks, but our actions impact each other and our environment – so let’s be kind!

Impact of Be Kind

To measure the impact of the Be Kind campaign in the Fells, Earthwise Aware (EwA), in collaboration with Friends of the Middlesex Fells, conducted a park usage study in 2023. Volunteers opportunistically collected data on various activities, including hiking, dog walking (both on and off-leash), and mountain biking. The report provides a baseline of visitor use to measure against the campaign's goals over time. The report's data are part of EwA's Biodiversity and Climate Participatory Science program.
