COVID-19 General Information

The Massachusetts Department of Correction continues to take unprecedented steps to prevent COVID-19 introduction or transmission in our facilities. DOC leadership, staff, and our contracted medical provider, Wellpath, are focused on reducing, to the greatest degree possible, the potential impact of this virus on inmates, staff and others within our walls. The following information will help address many commonly-asked questions regarding the DOC’s response to coronavirus (COVID-19) and the steps we’re taking to help protect the health of employees and inmates. Attorney Access to Medical Records

The Department of Correction (DOC) is taking the following measures during the pandemic to ensure that attorneys are able to timely obtain the medical records and sensitive medical information of their clients, who are inmates in DOC custody. These measures are for obtaining medical records of inmates housed in DOC facilities only; attorneys seeking to obtain the medical records of clients housed in jails and houses of correction must contact that facility or the respective Sheriff’s Office. Please use the link below to find the Department of Public health's daily and cumulative reports on Massachusetts COVID-19 cases, testing, and hospitalizations. Weekly and biweekly reports include nursing facility data, cases by city/town, residents subject to COVID-19 quarantine, and data from State facilities.​

Supreme Judicial Court (SJC) Resources

Please use the link below to find the SJC's Special Master's Weekly Reports. The reports contain charts reflecting the number of inmates and correctional staff vaccinated, incarceration and release stats, weekly number of COVID‐19 tests administered by correctional facilities, total number of COVID‐19 tests administered by correctional facility/facilities, weekly number of confirmed COVID‐19 cases, total number of confirmed COVID‐19 cases, current number of active COVID‐ 19 cases, and total number of confirmed COVID‐19 deaths.
