Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP)

Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) helps people with disabilities (or who are over 60 years old) live independently at home. HMLP follows these guidelines:

• All eligible borrowers receive a zero-interest deferred-payment loan.
• Home modifications can include bathroom and kitchen upgrades, ramps, stair-lifts and/or platform lifts, sensory or therapy spaces, hard-wired alarm systems, fences, and accessory dwelling units. 

Modifications do not include window, roof, heating, or septic repair.

You may be eligible for the Home Modification Loan Program (HMLP) if you:

• are a Massachusetts resident, 
• have a disability,
• have a household member or household members with a disability, 
• have a household member who is over 60,
• have documentation of need, and
• meet the income-based requirements
