The Details

Features

For more information on Content Filtering Services, please visit our Web Content Filtering Service site on mass.gov.

1) Web Content Filtering by Category:

Filter a category of web content.

You may request filtering to allow/deny access to a category or sub-category of web content.

2) Allow/Deny Site URLs:

Filter a specific URL/site.

Allow: allow a list of web site addresses included in a content filtering category normally blocked that your agency/Secretariat wants to allow. For example: blocking all gambling sites, but allowing the Massachusetts State Lottery web site (which is considered a gambling site).

Deny: block a list of web site addresses included in a content filtering category normally allowed that your agency/Secretariat wants to block. For example: allowing online shopping sites for agency/Secretariat procurement purposes, but blocking the Amazon web site.

3) Device Grouping:

Filter a type of device.

Filter by type of device when the device does not support user authentication (there is no “user” assigned to the device), like a server.

Device Grouping logically groups types of devices that you may choose to allow or block. Device types include: Internet of Things (IoT); Servers; Desktop(s); Other. For example, a Smart TV, Multifunction printer and Pitney Bowes postage machine are all Internet of things devices (IoT).
