  • MassWildlife and the Massachusetts State Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation (MA NWTF) will donate hunter safety kits. The kits include ear plugs, eye protection, and safety stickers. You can pick up a safety kit at your closest Department of Fish and Wildlife Office.
  • Turkey tags are only for youths aged 12 to 14. MassWildlife will provide them two spring tags, one for the date of the youth and hunt and the other for regular spring turkey season. Youths aged 15 to 17 do not need any tags. They need a hunting license, a turkey hunting permit, and a completion certificate on their turkey permit to hunt.
  • Mentors can take the young hunters anywhere that is open to hunting. Mentors most follow all local and state hunting regulations. Each young hunter needs at least one adult mentor.
