What you need   for Report Fraud, Waste and Abuse Relating to EOHLC Programs

What kind of complaints do you investigate? 

We investigate complaints relating to suspected fraud waste and abuse relating to Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) public housing and construction. Some examples of the behavior we investigate are:

  • An individual receives public housing assistance despite his or her ineligibility due to a higher paying job.
  • An individual at age 58 (below the threshold) lives in state assisted elderly public housing.
  • A business fraudulently claims information in order to receive a tax credit.

What information do I need to make a complaint?

The following information is required:

  • A description of the misconduct, including when and where the misconduct happened and how long it last. This may include:
    • How you know about this allegation
    • Attempts by the alleged violators to hide the misconduct
    • A list or description of documents or other evidence you or others may have that are relevant to the complaint.
    • Names of others who may support the allegations
  • An identification of the primary person or entity who engaged in the alleged misconduct

We also ask for the following helpful, but optional, information:

  • The company or organization of the primary person who engaged in the misconduct, if applicable
  • The address of the entity or person
  • The entity or person’s phone number
  • The entity or person’s email address
  • Additional individuals involved in the alleged misconduct if applicable.
  • Your name
  • Your address
  • Your phone number
  • Your email address

Where can I make the complaint?

You can report suspected fraud, waste and abuse relating to EOHLC programs by filling out our Online Form.

You can also report by calling us at 617-573-1100 or emailing us at EOHLChotline@mass.gov.

Can I make a complaint anonymously?

Yes. You do not have to provide you name.

If you choose to remain anonymous, it is not necessary to fill out the contact information. However, please keep in mind that your decision to elect anonymity may limit our ability to conduct an inquiry, if one is warranted, or to appropriately address your issue. For example, if you choose to remain anonymous, we will not be able to follow-up with you if we need additional information or have questions about the details of your complaint. In some cases, if we do not have sufficient information, we may be unable to act on your complaint. As a result, the more information you can provide, the better chance we have of addressing any wrongdoing that has been committed. You can always request that your identity and/or contact information remain confidential and not be shared outside of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC). Please consider providing your name and/or contact information to allow for follow-up contact by this office.

Will my complaint be public information?

You can request that your information be kept confidential and not reported outside Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities (EOHLC) unless required to do so by law such as court order or subpoena.
