These six bridges on I-495 are nearing the end of their planned lifespans.
The I-495 Andover-Lawrence Bridge Replacements Project consists of six bridges on I-495. Four of the bridges carry I-495 over Route 28. Two of the bridge carry the interstate over the MBTA Haverhill commuter rail line. All six structures date from 1962 when I-495 was first built through the Merrimack Valley.
The bridges are safe for all users, but they are nearing the end of their planned lifespans and must be replaced.
