7th Member Position

7th Member position on the Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission.

The Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission (PERAC) is seeking interested applicants for the 7th Member of the Commission. By statute, the 7th Member is chosen by the other six (6) Commissioners and serves as the Chair of the Commission. The 7th member’s five (5) year term will commence on November 7, 2026.

PERAC is an independent agency under the Executive Office of Administration and Finance. Our enabling statute is Chapter 7 Section 49 of the Massachusetts General Laws. PERAC's mission is to provide regulatory oversight and guidance for the effective, equitable, and ethical operation of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ public pension systems.

The 7th Member/Chair prepares for and attends meetings of PERAC which take place once a month, usually the second Wednesday of the month at 11:00 a.m. and at other times as needed. The Chair serves as a member of each of the Commission’s sub-committees. Sub-committee meetings vary and are scheduled as needed. Travel may be required to various pension-related meetings and conferences. The members of the Commission, including the 7th member, serve without compensation but receive necessary expenses incurred in the discharge of their official duties. Commission members are required to complete the Conflict of Interest Law Ethics training biennially.

Interested candidates should have knowledge of the Massachusetts Open Meeting Law and Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 32. Anyone who is an active board member or employee of a retirement board is not eligible to serve on the Commission.

Interested applicants should submit a letter and resume no later than October 1, 2026, to:

Bill Keefe, Executive Director
Public Employee Retirement Administration Commission
10 Cabot Road, Suite 300
Medford, MA 02155

All submitted names will be forwarded to the Commission for their consideration. The Commission members may ask questions of each person proposed for consideration for appointment as the 7th member of the Commission, and each person proposed for consideration will be allowed to make a brief statement to the Commission at the October 14, 2026 Commission meeting at 11:00 a.m. during open session.
