Rolland Services
MRC supports individuals with developmental disabilities who moved out of nursing homes as part of the Rolland settlement so that individuals can live in settings that they choose. These include apartments, with their families, shared living, group homes, and assisted living. The individuals served determine the focus of the support services that MRC provides. Services include skills training, community activities, PCA management, health maintenance, promotion of wellness and quality of life.
These services are overseen by MRC Regional Coordinators.

Older Adults and Traumatic Brain Injury – Federal Grant Program
MRC and the Executive Office of Elder Affairs have worked together to create system changes benefiting seniors with traumatic brain injury. Initial funding supporting this work was provided by the federal Administration for Community Living program in the form of a Traumatic Brain Injury Partnership grant. The grant ended in May, 2018.
Through partnership with the Brain Injury Association of Massachusetts of MA (BIA-MA) and other local/state agencies₃, training was provided to local and state agency partners on TBI, TBI screening, and brain injury resources.

Training for Schools, Families, Programs, and Agencies
We provide training and consultation to help improve services for individuals with brain injuries. Training is available at no cost to agencies, programs and professionals throughout the Commonwealth working with individuals with brain injuries. Those interested in working with persons with brain injuries can also receive training.
Training is provided by consulting clinicians or staff with experience in head injury rehabilitation. Consultants are available who specialize in neuropsychology, behavior management, vocational adjustment, and other areas. A general overview of the cognitive and behavioral effects of brain injury is also available.
Training and in-service support is available to public and private school personnel. Training can support school personnel in understanding the symptoms and complications that may follow a TBI or concussion. Symptoms may include:
- Motor coordination issues
- Impairments of perception
- Depression
- Vomiting
- Headache
- Crying and inability to be consoled
- Restlessness or irritability
- Persistent headache, poor attention, and change in sleep pattern.

- How to Interpret and Utilize a Neuropsychological Report
- Employment Related Issues For Clients with TBI
These trainings can accommodate various audiences of size and lengths of presentation.
