AFSCME Council 93 and Local 888 (Unit 2) Training Opportunities
Skills for Supervisors
Supervision in the twenty-first century requires that all of us practice continuous learning and continuous growth. This six-session offering is an opportunity for current supervisors to gain new skills and further hone their current skill set.
Delivered by Charles McCrea, the six two-hour sessions will be virtual and interactive. Participants will have opportunities to collaborate and share ideas and experiences in breakout groups and as a full group.
- Emotional Intelligence and Trust: Introduction to self-awareness, focus on trust in the workplace for collaboration and communication.
- Conflict: Develop conflict competency, review and discussion of conflict styles and de-escalating conflict.
- Teams: Stages of team development, assessing current team and determine necessary actions to move through the stages, review elements of a high-performing collaborative team.
- Change and Transition: How to lead a team in times of transition, identify opportunities and challenges in change, understanding and managing resistance.
- Communication in the workplace: Understanding and practicing effective communication as a means of building trust and getting work done, value of clear project, team or unit objectives.
- Heart of Supervision: Attributes, attitudes and behaviors essential for effective supervision, your management style.

Required License Reimbursements
AFSCME Council 93 and SEIU Local 888 bargaining unit employees can submit reimbursement requests for licenses and certifications that they are required to hold as a condition of employment (excluding basic driver’s license). Employees will be reimbursed for the full cost of all required licenses and certifications paid for between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.
TCL FY26 Reimbursement form, or for EOHHS only employees, the TCL FY26 Reimbursement EOHHS form must be completed by any Unit 2 member who wishes to be reimbursed for licenses or certifications that they are required to have for their job. To be considered all requests for reimbursement must be received by your Human Resources Office by May 31, 2026 with June 2026 renewals no later than June 18, 2026.
In addition to reimbursement for required licenses, we may also have funds available for reimbursement for renewal of licenses and certifications that are not required. The dollar amount of the reimbursement that members will receive for each non-required license or certificate, coursework to support license and certification, and the number of licenses and certificate that will be reimbursed to each member will be determined based upon the number of members who request reimbursement. Failure to provide the needed information may result in your request for reimbursement being denied.
