Annual Fire and Life Safety Education Conference

Every year the Department of Fire Services and the Massachusetts Public Fire and Life Safety Education Task Force present a conference for fire and life safety educators.

The conference includes two days of engaging speakers, practical workshops and networking opportunities for new and experienced fire and life safety educators. The Fire and Life Safety Educator of the Year award is presented on the second day of the conference.

Call for Presenters and Workshops for the 2024 Massachusetts Fire & Life Safety Education Conference

The Department of Fire Services and the Public Fire & Life Safety Task Force are calling for presenters and workshop proposals for the 2024 Massachusetts Fire & Life Safety Education Conference.

Conference Information

The two-day program will be held in September 2024 and include more than 30 workshops and speakers on topics in fire and life safety education. The conference attracts new and experienced fire and life safety educators, teachers, nurses, school leaders, older adult specialists, fire prevention officers, firefighters, EMTs, and other public safety professionals. The annual event provides attendees with an opportunity to build their networks, share resources, strengthen their teaching practice with new tools and techniques, and better understand the challenges communities face across the Commonwealth.

Proposal Information

We are looking for workshops on topics in fire and life safety education, including skill building, successful programs, ways to use technology, research and evaluation, science, resources, new trends, and more. Workshops can be either one or two hours long and must include time for audience questions.

Deadlines and Selection Process

The Task Force will review and select workshops from among all submissions. Selections will be made based on conference needs. The deadline for proposal submission is January 8, 2024. Please email proposals to Sheryl.Hedlund@mass.gov. For questions, please contact Sheryl.Hedlund@mass.gov.

Workshops are designed for fire educators, fire prevention officers, EMTs, teachers, older adult specialists, nurses, school leaders, police officers, and firefighters at every level of experience. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or new to safety education, we have workshops that support what you do. The conference highlights activities that brought us this far, and helps us look forward to all that is needed to keep communities safe from fire.
