Building Permit Applications for Non-State-Owned Buildings

The Board of Building Regulations and Standards (BBRS) staff and state building inspectors have created standard building permit application forms for all other buildings that do not qualify as state-owned.

Application Forms

In you are seeking to apply for a building permit for a building that is not state-owned, the process is administered by your local municipal building official and not the BBRS. To support municipal building officials, the BBRS Staff and municipal building inspectors have created two standard Office of Public Safety and Inspections (OPSI) building permit application forms. Municipalities may add to or use a variant of this form but municipality-specific forms must contain at least the same information so that the application process and information requirements are similar across the state. If you have any questions regarding the acceptability of the OPSI standard form in a specific municipality or the building permit process generally for non-state-owned buildings, you should contact the municipality to which the building permit application will be submitted.
