Jaime Jimenez

As a Colombian immigrant, Jaime has worked in the mental health field for more than 20 years, beginning his career as a multicultural specialist in 2003. After immigrating to the United States as a teenager in the early 1990s, limited access to information about higher education resources and opportunities prevented him from pursuing his educational goals as a young adult, leading him to enter the workforce directly after high school.

In his early 20s, Jaime became a paramedic and began working at North Suffolk Community Services (formerly known as North Suffolk Mental Health Association) in the Emergency Services Program (ESP) as a multicultural specialist. During his time there, he continued building his knowledge in administrative operations through internal professional development opportunities and earned several promotions, eventually serving as director of operations for the program and later as the agency’s director of training.

As a Community Ambassador, Jaime is committed to connecting community members with resources and opportunities that support personal growth, financial stability and informed financial decision-making through the resources available from OEE. Drawing from his lived experience, he is also passionate about increasing awareness of educational and financial opportunities that community members may not know about due to limited outreach or language barriers.
