The Dover Amendment (G.L. c. 40A, § 3) is a Massachusetts law that exempts certain high-priority land uses from some forms of local regulation. Religious and educational uses of land are among the land uses protected under the Dover Amendment.
The Attorney General has created guidance to help the public understand the scope of the Dover Amendment’s religious and educational use protections and how they interact with local land use and permitting rules.
