Insurer Licensing - Certified Reinsurers

Requirements to become a certified reinsurer in Massachusetts are specified in M.G.L. c. 175, § 20A and 211 CMR 130.07.

The following items are required to be submitted by a company applying to become a certified reinsurer in Massachusetts:

A Uniform Application Checklist for Certified Reinsurers including all required documentation.  Please submit an electronic copy of the application to Companies.Mailbox@mass.gov.

A properly executed Form CR-1 (Certificate of Certified Reinsurer)

Form CR-F (P&C Reinsurer)

Form CR-S (LAH Reinsurer)

Qualified Jurisdictions

A check payable to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts-Division of Insurance for $1,000 for the nonrefundable Application Examination Fee.
