Legal Services/Pro Bono Clinic Student Loan Assistance Referrals

Are your clients struggling with student loans? If so, the Attorney General's Office may be able to help.

The Attorney General's Student Loan Assistance Unit helps borrowers in a non-litigation context to:

  • end wage garnishments, tax refund interceptions, and benefit offsets;
  • get federal student loans out of default;
  • explore repayment plans, including income-driven plans;
  • apply for loan discharges, including disability and closed school discharges;
  • resolve billing disputes with loan servicers; and
  • stop harassing collection calls.

To get free student loan help for your clients, please submit a Student Loan Assistance Referral Form.  (If you are a student loan borrower seeking help for yourself, please instead fill out a Student Loan Help Request.)

If you have any questions, please call our Student Loan Helpline at 1-888-830-6277.
