Massachusetts Safe Routes to School Ambassador Program

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) and Massachusetts Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program has launched a student-led volunteer program that educates high school students on walking, biking, and rolling safety while providing them with volunteer opportunities to help younger students and their families access safe, healthy, and equitable transportation options.

Get Expert Safe Travel Training
With help from MassDOT’s transportation and SRTS experts, student ambassadors will complete training modules and educational activities on the ins-and-outs of walking, biking, and rolling safety.

Add Real-World Experience to Your Resume
Student ambassadors get hands-on experience applying transportation planning and safety principles, giving you a head start on practical, real-world experience that can be added to your resume.

Earn Community Service Hours
This program is an opportunity to do some good in your community. Student ambassadors can earn hours certified by SRTS to meet graduation and college requirements.

Participation
The SRTS Ambassador Program is open to high school students, grades 9-12, at select Massachusetts high schools. To participate in the program and earn a certificate of completion from MassDOT, student ambassadors must complete SRTS training activities, earning at least 15 points for the year.
