This year's STEM week focuses on “STEM starts now” – at any age you can learn about STEM, from our youngest learners to adult learners, and STEM educational opportunities and jobs are here at this very moment in Massachusetts.
STEM Week Overview
The Healey-Driscoll Administration is excited to sponsor and host Massachusetts’ annual STEM Week, focused on encouraging our students to study STEM and learn about STEM opportunities from birth to post-secondary education and beyond. With the 2024 STEM Week, Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll and Secretary of Education Dr. Patrick Tutwiler, the co-chairs of the administration’s STEM Advisory Council, are highlighting that “STEM starts now” – at any age you can learn about STEM, from our youngest learners to adult learners, and STEM jobs and opportunities are here at this very moment in Massachusetts. This year STEM Week festivities will kick off on Monday, October 21st and go through Friday, October 25th.
Massachusetts STEM Week is an annual statewide event that takes place on the third week of October, organized by the Executive Office of Education and the STEM Advisory Council in partnership with the state’s Nine Regional STEM Networks. STEM Week is a statewide effort to boost the interest, awareness and ability of all students to see themselves in STEM opportunities. Young women, students of color, English language learners, and students with disabilities continue to be underrepresented in STEM fields, yet make up a larger percentage of the overall workforce. We need more learners from birth to post-secondary education and beyond to see themselves in STEM, because STEM starts now.
