On September 10, 2024, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced the Massachusetts Workforce Skills Fund, which builds on strategies outlined in the state's Workforce Agenda, Meeting the Moment to Attract, Retain, and Develop a Future Workforcereleased earlier in 2024.

About the stipend program

Designed as a pilot program, the Massachusetts Workforce Skills Fund provides training stipends for Massachusetts residents, equipping them to meet the growing demand for skilled workers in key industries and occupations.

Leveraging federal funds, an individual enrolled in a Career Technical Initiative (CTI) or the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund (WCTF) training program may be eligible to receive a training stipend of up to $5,000, so long as funds are available during this pilot.

Program benefits

The Massachusetts Workforce Skills Fund provides crucial financial support through stipends that reduce or eliminate barriers to participation in training programs, enabling individuals to focus on skill development without financial stress.

By targeting high-demand industries, such as, but not limited to, Healthcare, Finance, Construction, Hospitality, Transportation, Manufacturing, Trades, and Information Technology, the program ensures participants are trained in fields with strong job prospects, enhancing their chances of securing employment upon completion.
