A migrant seasonal farmworker is someone who works or has worked during the past 12 months in seasonal or temporary farmwork.
Farmwork may include planting, growing, harvesting, packing or processing crops, working in a nursery, or working with livestock.
Services
The MassHire Department of Career Services (MDCS) provides employment services to migrant seasonal farmworkers at Career Centers across Massachusetts.
MDCS must:
- Provide equal support to migrant seasonal farmworkers as they do to all other workers in Massachusetts.
- Offer the full range of career services, benefits, and protections to workers.
- Provide individual support for each worker’s needs and skills, ensuring they can participate in available job and training opportunities.
- Provide clear, easy access to information about available jobs both in person and online.
MDCS may be able to help you to:
- Find a job.
- Write a résumé and fill out job applications.
- Find classes and trainings for new skills.
- Answer questions about unemployment.
- Learn about your rights at work and your pay.
- Get help finding doctors, housing, food, and rides.
- Sign up for English classes.
- Report a problem or a violation at your workplace.
