Application Timeline

The FY2025 round of MVP 2.0 Planning Grant applications is currently closed. The next MVP 2.0 application round will open around Fall of 2025.

Eligibility

The following entities are eligible to apply for an MVP 2.0 Planning Grant:

  • Massachusetts municipalities (and Devens)
  • Tribal Governments
  • Political subdivisions, such as Regional Planning Agencies, applying on behalf of a municipality/ies to complete the MVP 2.0 process

Match Requirement

There is no formal match requirement for the MVP 2.0 grant. Applicants should commit sufficient time to assure completion of the steps and goals of the MVP 2.0 process.

Available Funding

Each awarded community or regional group receives $50,000 for Steps 1-8 and 10 of the process, and $50,000 per community for Step 9 (Implementing the Seed Project). MVP 2.0 is a two-year grant. 

Required Communities for the FY26 MVP 2.0 Round

The following communities are required to apply for MVP 2.0 in the FY26 round. These communities need to apply to the FY26 MVP 2.0 program grant opportunity or have received designation from EEA for prior work that fulfills the MVP 2.0 program requirements to be eligible to apply for future MVP Action Grants:

  • Adams, Buckland, Concord, Essex, Falmouth, Gloucester, Gosnold, Grafton, Lanesborough, Lawrence, Littleton, Manchester-by-the-Sea, Marblehead, Marion, Mendon, Millbury, Monterey, Newbury, Newton, Norton, Norwood, Sandwich, Shrewsbury, Southwick, Stow, Wareham, Weymouth, Williamstown, Winthrop

Required Communities and Awards for the FY25 MVP 2.0 Round

The FY25 round of MVP 2.0 is now underway with 23 municipalities and three regional groups, representing another 10 municipalities. The awarded communities are:

  • Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Canton, Colrain & Charlemont, Conway & Ashfield, Devens Enterprise Commission, Duxbury, Holyoke, Lexington, Martha's Vineyard Commission (on behalf of Aquinnah, Chilmark, Edgartown, Oak Bluffs, Tisbury, & West Tisbury), Melrose, Natick, New Bedford, Newburyport, Pelham, Princeton, Salem, Scituate, Sherborn, Spencer, Springfield, Swampscott, Swansea, Ware, and Wrentham.

The following communities were required to apply for MVP 2.0 in the FY25 round. These are communities that have an MVP Plan or were designated as an MVP community based on prior work that is dated May 2018 or earlier. These communities needed to apply to the FY25 MVP 2.0 program grant opportunity or have received designation from EEA for prior work that fulfills the MVP 2.0 program requirements to be eligible to apply for future MVP Action Grants.
