Project: Infectious Disease Education Support 

Organization: Bureau of Infectious Disease and Laboratory Science, Office of Healthcare Planning

This intern will be a part of the Office of Healthcare Planning team, tasked with supporting Divisions and Offices across the Bureau of Infectious Disease. We work to create content, resources and other information for over 90 reportable diseases and conditions to educate healthcare providers and constituents across MA. We work to provide vital information to people at risk for infectious such as HIV/AIDS, STIs, Hepatitis and more, often assisting healthcare providers in caring for vulnerable populations. The intern will be exposed to interdisciplinary public health through an infectious disease (ID) education lens. They will be able to see how state government works through contracted vendors, how the MDPH supports practices & clinicians in preventing and treating ID through various education and technical support, they will have a chance to see how our work intersects with other Bureaus and offices, such as substance use and epidemiology, and they will have an in depth experience with health education and promotion.

Skills Required: Technology savvy, experience with computer applications, communication skills, professionalism, experience with Microsoft systems; Adobe experience a plus, Canva and other content creation application experience a plus
Technology Required: Laptop
Work Arrangement: Hybrid
Hours Per Week: 15
Preferred Eligibility: Students in Associates and or Bachelor programs 
Preferred Academic Experience: Public Health, Biology, Health Science, Environmental Health, Health Policy/Management, Communications, Education, and or related areas
