DPH Paid Internship Program FAQs

The application for the Fall 2024 Paid Internship Program is now closed. Applicants who are invited to interview will be notified by the end of May. All applicants will be notified of their application status by the end of June.

Can I receive academic credit for participating in this program? 

If the DPH Internship Program meets your course requirements, yes!  Please speak with your program advisors to complete all necessary paperwork for your internship to count for credit. 

How much will I be paid? 

Undergraduate students will be paid at a rate of $20.00 per hour while graduate students will be paid at a rate of $25.00 per hour. 

Will I get to choose which bureau or office I will intern with? 

After reading the interns project descriptions, you can indicate on your application your top three programs you are interested in applying for.  

Can I apply as an international student? 

If you are able to get the necessary paperwork from your college or institution, International Students are welcome to apply for the DPH Internship.  

Do I have to be a public health major in order to apply? 

No! As long as you are a current degree seeking student and have the appropriate qualifications for the intern project you are applying for, you are welcome to apply. 

Do I have to be available for the entire duration of the internship?  

Yes.  

Are the internships part time or full time? 

This will be indicated on the internship project description. 

Are the internships in person, remote, or hybrid?  

This will be indicated on the internship project description.
