Sexual and domestic violence professional trainings & resources

The Division of Sexual and Domestic Violence Prevention and Services supports various trainings and educational programs for the general community and specific groups of professionals, including the Female Genital Mutilation Educational Program and Chapter 260 Trainings.

Chapter 260 Domestic and Sexual Violence Training

Massachusetts law (Chapter 260 of the Acts of 2014) requires many licensed professionals to complete a one-time foundational learning module on prevention and response to domestic and sexual violence.

Female Genital Mutilation Educational Program

Massachusetts law (Chapter 149 of the Acts of 2020) requires the public health commissioner to work with the government and non-governmental organizations to develop an educational program to prevent Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). This includes information about the health risks, emotional trauma, and criminal penalties associated with FGM/C, as well as clinical responses to survivors of FGM/C. Female genital mutilation: A foundational training for health care professionals

DPH, with the guidance of content experts, has created a foundational training for professionals in the health care field. This training includes the content provided here in addition to diagrams, guidance on clinical practices, and resources to support additional learning.
