Female Genital Mutilation Educational Program
Massachusetts law (Chapter 149 of the Acts of 2020) requires the public health commissioner to work with the government and non-governmental organizations to develop an educational program to prevent Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting (FGM/C). This includes information about the health risks, emotional trauma, and criminal penalties associated with FGM/C, as well as clinical responses to survivors of FGM/C. Female genital mutilation: A foundational training for health care professionals
DPH, with the guidance of content experts, has created a foundational training for professionals in the health care field. This training includes the content provided here in addition to diagrams, guidance on clinical practices, and resources to support additional learning.
