Description
Silver Lake is a 28-acre impoundment of the West River located off of Upton Road (Rt. 140) in Grafton. Silver Lake has an average depth of 6 feet, a maximum depth of 12 feet and aquatic vegetation is largely confined to the shallower northern portions of the pond. Rt 140 bounds the lake to the west while the eastern shore lie entirely within conserved lands and is forested.
Recreational access
The town of Grafton manages a dirt launch suitable for cartop boats off of Upton Street (Rt 140) on the western shore (get directions). Parking is provided by an enlarged shoulder on Upton Street; electric motors only. Shore fishing is possible here along Upton Street on town owned land. The pond can also be accessed from the town beach which is also off Upton Street (get directions). During the swim season, a parking fee will apply and any craft launched from the beach area will be required to stay within the confines of the swimming area. Outside the swim season, one can park outside the gate to the beach and carry in to the water. Shore fishing is possible from the beach to the north on town owned conservation land. Silver Lake has produced largemouth bass and sunfish that meet minimum sizes for recognition by the Freshwater Sportfishing Awards Program.
