I’d like to share some exciting news about additional benefits for the BabySteps Savings Plan. The Office of Economic Empowerment, MEFA, and the Department of Transitional Assistance are now providing $10 monthly deposits for one year to BabySteps families enrolled in SNAP. This is in addition to the $50 seed when signing up for a BabySteps account.
With SNAP into BabySteps, families can receive a total of $170 into their child’s 529 U.Fund account to jumpstart saving for future education, vocational training, and apprenticeship costs!
Starting September 1st, every Massachusetts family continues to have until their child’s first birthday or adoption anniversary to sign up for BabySteps to receive the initial $50 deposit, but they’ll have an additional 6 months after their first birthday to enroll in the monthly deposits using a simple online form.
