Project summary

The Town of Stow requested In-Lieu Fee funding to restore wetlands on a retired golf course. The golf course will continue operating across the street. The Town owns the site. They will also grant a conservation restriction on the property. The conservation restriction will ensure the restoration project is protected. The project will restore about 10 acres of wetlands. There is a wetland next to the golf course. It is likely that the wetland was larger before the previous landowner built the golf course. Earthen material was likely placed on wet areas to make them suitable for the driving range. The project will uncompact the soil to encourage water to move up toward the ground surface. This will also encourage seeds of wetland plants to germinate. Some of the earthen material will be moved off of the former wet areas and placed in upland areas or mounds. The project will create wetter and drier areas on the site to provide habitat diversity. The project site is adjacent to the Town of Stow’s Randall Woods park. It will be open to the public for passive recreation. Additional information about the project can be found on the Town of Stow’s website
